Founded in 2016, Girls Not Brides Uganda (GNBU) has grown into a dynamic network of over 140 member organizations spread across all regions of the country. GNBU prides itself on championing the fight against child marriage and teenage pregnancy by addressing these issues through community-driven interventions, advocacy, and collaboration with both local and national stakeholders.
Founded with a vision to eradicate child marriage and teenage pregnancy, GNBU is a dynamic alliance of civil society organizations. Our approach combines collaboration, advocacy, and community-driven solutions to tackle the root causes of child marriage, aligning closely with national priorities like the National Strategy to End Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy.
Over the years, GNBU has made significant strides by strengthening community structures, empowering religious and cultural leaders, and engaging with media to promote positive behavior change. Our efforts have successfully influenced resource allocation at the district level and supported the implementation of protective policies.
Embedded in the global Girls Not Brides network, GNBU benefits from a vast reservoir of shared knowledge and best practices. Together, we strive to ensure that every girl in Uganda—and around the world—can achieve her full potential free from the threat of early marriage.
