There mother too is HIV positive but the twins are negative. Babirye is in primary one whereas Nakato is in Top class. They all go to Nkumba Preparatory Primary School in Nkumba village. Babirye Veronica wants to be an accountant when she grows up and Nakato Ritah wants to be a nurse and care for people when she grows up.

Kasawuli is eight years old and was born in 2009. He was brought to Namusisi Bitijuma before the death of his father. The mother’s whereabouts are not known. Initially, he used to live with his parents at Nsazi island. His mother is the one that organized for Kasawuli to be brought to his grandmother (Bitijuma Namusisi) using boat transport along Kasenyi fishing site. The Boda Boda men at Kasenyi then offered themselves voluntarily to drive the young boy to Namusisi’ place. After sometime, while this boy stayed with grandmother in Kisembi-Nkumba, his father passed on. Namusisi considers this child her grandchild because her current husband is the father to the late parent (dad) to Kasawuli Sunday. The late father was a fisherman at Nsazi island but still, almost fishing is the economic activity circulating in the entire family. Until of recent when a national order was passed country wide to pause fishing in Uganda water bodies to let fish grow.
About Bitijuma Nakazibwe
She is a married woman aged fifty. She never had a chance to go to school in her life. She has and bore ten children. Six of them are to the first home she got married in and the four belong to the second man where she is. She is also the primary guardian to Kasawuli Sunday and Nakazibwe Shadiah. The four children are all below eighteen years of age. Nakazibwe’s parents and close relatives, sisters and brothers all passed on. She is all alone. She was given Kasawuli when he was 3 years old. Since Baby class, she has been toiling to ensure that he attains education. Shadiah was an infant who had not yet even learnt how to say a single word by the time she was abandoned by her mother to Nakazibwe.
Bitijuma says that the father to Kasawuli was very alcoholic and negligent about children’s rights. She goes on to say that he would hardly support his own children. The housing structure at Nsazi island are temporary and of poor quality with no privacy and most children are insecure. In her home, she currently has eight children. Two are above 18 years and the six are below that age. The big boy in the home goes goes to quarrying to offer casual labor and earn some money at the end of the day. The big girl in the home helps the mother (Nakazibwe Bitijuma) dig in people’s farms and sell tomatoes too to get some money. This girl has a brain complication and most times she needs to be closer to an individual who understands her situation and is patient with her.
Nakazibwe faces a challenge of insubstantial financial level in that the money is not enough to cater for all necessities that all the children in the home are meant to have. This includes things like food, clothing, healthcare and education. About the husband to Nakazibwe, he is a fisherman but sometimes he farms on borrowed land spaces. Since of recent, there is no ore space given to him to allow him grow any foods because most people have sold off their land. This has compromised the health status of the whole family. The situation id really very hard at home.

His mother is the one that organized for Kasawuli to be brought to his grandmother (Bitijuma Namusisi) using boat transport along Kasenyi fishing site. The Boda Boda men at Kasenyi then offered themselves voluntarily to drive the young boy to Namusisi’ place. After sometime, while this boy stayed with grandmother in Kisembi-Nkumba, his father passed on. Namusisi considers this child her grandchild because her current husband is the father to the late parent (dad) to Kasawuli Sunday. The late father was a fisherman at Nsazi island but still, almost fishing is the economic activity circulating in the entire family. Until of recent when a national order was passed country wide to pause fishing in Uganda water bodies to let fish grow.

He was born in Kyaterekera Buwolo-Kagadi in Kibaale district to the late Mr. Mukisa Isaiah, who was a son to Margaret Namirimu, now, the guardian to Joseph. He is now in Baby class at Talemwa Junior School, one of the good pre-schools in Nkumba village. Together with the family of the guardian, they live in Kisembi-Nkumba village.

He passed on four and half years ago and their mother disappeared after she dropped them to Nanyombi Teddy (the elder sister to their late father) in Kisembi-Nkumba village in Wakiso district. Since then, the guardians to these children, whether have never heard from the mother to these children, whether she is still alive of not, nobody knows. In this year 2017, Nanyange Immaculate is 8 years old and in primary two class. Nanyonjo Catherine Gloria is 6 years old and in Top class. They are all at Nkumba Preparatory School in Kisembi-Nkumba village.

All the seven children are for relatives, no child she bore in the home stays with them and she has to make all ends meet for a better life to these children. She fights on to ensure that children in the home have what to eat by searching for food all round to give them.
Before See Them Grow Foundation (STGF) took the step to sponsor two of the children, both madam Nansana (another auntie to the children) and Nanyombi Teddy have been the most influential people in promoting these children’s rights to come to realty like clothing, food, shelter, healthcare and education. However, the major obstacle towards towards adequately providing these necessities has been absence of decent work/job to do, particularly to get school fees for these children.
When asked about why she would seek assistance for STGF in particular sponsorship for these two children, this is what Nanyombi Teddy said
“siyina busobozi, abaana banaku,emirimu tewali ate naamanyi gankedeelaa. Abengganda abandinyambyeko ku baana bano babeera wala naffe ate nga mbagaliza okusoma okulungi. Njagala abaana abo basome bamaleko kubanga taata wabwe yali musajja mugezi.nekilala nabo banaaba basobola okutuyamba mu maaso eyo. Essuubi lino lyenina linsidikiriza okubagaliza ennyo okusoma.
Literally meaning “I do not have the ability, these children are orphans, no work to do and earn and still, I have grown weak. Our relatives who would be of help to these children stay very far away yet I wish these children quality regular education. I would like these children to study and graduate because even their father was a bright man. Next, the children will be able to help us in the time to come. This hope that I have stimulates me to want them to study.”
With the availability of more funds to STGF, children are transferred and put in better schools where they are holistically equipped to be better people.

Nassonko and Justine and Baazinge Steven are a couple living in a rental (single room) in Kisembi-Nkumba village, Entebbe in Wakiso district in central Uganda. Mr. Baazinge Steven, the father of the children is aged thirty with temporary work as a mason whereas Miss. Nassonko Justine is a homemaker aged twenty five. Concerning the meant to be breadwinner in the home (the man), the wife is disappointed in him in that he does not want to work hard enough. Sometimes when he does get some work to do, money does not reach home or he is not paid at all which has made it impossible for him to afford the school dues for the children. The available little money got can only help raise food at home and immediate basic necessities for the children like clothing, soap, safe water, buying drugs in case of an illness and paying monthly rent.
The mother to the children, despite her being a youth, with all the strength embedded 2in her, she faces a great challenge of having no livelihood at all. She dropped out of school while in lower primary and started to bear children at a teenage age. Worse to this, she has no personal skill to earn her an income and her family. Together with her partner and their four children, they live is a small single roomed rental that accommodates all of them and their property. She faces financial constraints on a daily basis. Mr. Baazinge Steven, the father of the children is aged thirty with temporary work as a mason whereas Miss. Nassonko Justine is a homemaker aged twenty five. Concerning the meant to be breadwinner in the home (the man), the wife is disappointed in him in that he does not want to work hard enough. Sometimes when he does get some work to do, money does not reach home or he is not paid at all which has made it impossible for him to afford the school dues for the children. The available little money got can only help raise food at home and immediate basic necessities for the children like clothing, soap, safe water, buying drugs in case of an illness and paying monthly rent.
The mother to the children, despite her being a youth, with all the strength embedded 2in her, she faces a great challenge of having no livelihood at all. She dropped out of school while in lower primary and started to bear children at a teenage age. Worse to this, she has no personal skill to earn her an income and her family. Together with her partner and their four children, they live is a small single roomed rental that accommodates all of them and their property. She faces financial constraints on a daily basis. However, occasionally, she gets some work to do or labour to offer from the surrounding neighbours that in return, she is able to receive some pay (money) to support her children too. The children are vulnerable due to the economic constraint faced by their parents to access quality education.
Currently (2017), the three children are at St. James Parents’ school found in Nkumba-Kisembi. Jackie is in primary three class, Jonah is in primary two class and Jacinter is in middle class Though one of the pre-primary and primary schools in the area, the education standard is inadequate. Due to these hardships, they seek Dennis Dease Foundation (DDF) assist their three children to attain their right to education adequately. With the availability of more funds to DDF, children are transferred and put in better schools where they are holistically equipped to be better people

Christian is 6 years old currently in the last level of his pre- school. Abandoned by his father when he was born, Christian stays with his grandmother who he loves immensely. His mother is a young single mother without any academic qualification, she scraps around for odd jobs to take care of her son but more importantly to give her the best gift in life – education. This is not an easy task for a single mother.
Christian, is an excellent pupil, he loves counting and painting. Many kids cry on their first day at school but for Christian, it was a different story. He loves school and he always looks forward to scamper off to his studies every morning. At such a tender age, he dreams of selling reading books. His dreams can be nurtured and transformed into even bigger dreams with your help. Away from school, he loves to play football

Allen has one sister and one brother. Her father died in a road accident. She lives with her mother and her siblings in a one roomed house. Allen’s mother runs a small and run-down kiosk just outside their house, selling a few assortment of fruits.
Allen is a brainy girl, at 9 years she is already in primary five. Her best subject is science and she envisions becoming a doctor in future. Back at home, she helps out her mother by attending to the kiosk as well as fetching water for home use.
Having Allen in school will not only help to brighten her future as well as enabling her achieve her dream of becoming a doctor, it will also help her escape the scorching effects of child marriage; a practice that is so common in many African countries. In areas where child marriages is rampant, poor families like Allen’s with little money even for food and basic necessities, marrying their daughter early is an economic survival strategy: it means one less mouth to feed and one less child to educate. In a context of limited economic resources and opportunities, girls are often seen as economic assets whose marriages provide cattle, other animals, money, and gifts which come in form of bride price.
